Lillsved Jam & Seminar 2004

Lillsved Jam and Seminar is an annual, approximately 8 days contact improvisation meeting, with an idea and structure to combine forms of workshop, class working, freeform seminar, discussion, performance and jamming.

Finding satisfaction in performing C.I.
After two years of seminars, where we have been working with different aspects of jamming and performing in C.I., it seems like people belive it’s important to find pleasure in performing, as well as in jamming. Finding a relaxed approach gives people a safe base for listening to our presence, timing and a feeling for waiting and making choises.
During this seminar we’ll investigate personal aspects of dancing contact improvisation with satisfaction in performance.

The jam & seminar
Lillsved J & S will offer a place where people can jam together, share their experiences, offer and receive teaching and performe for each other. An ongoing seminar will take place where people give lectures on a chosen theme. The lectures will range from physical work to discussion and analysis of theories.
In this, the third jam and seminar to be held at Herrängs Folkets Hus, the seminar will treat different aspects of performing related to contact improvisation.

Jamming is a direct way of illustrating contact improvisation. A jam is often multi-layered offering both dance and social interaction. Jams develop the form of the dance as well as offering the chance for cultural exchange.

Location
Herräng is a small village on the coast about 120 km north of Stockholm. Situated by the sea and surrounded by forest, the dance space offers a beautiful setting.
In August the water is perfect for swiming. The dance will take place in a studio with a wooden floor, in an outdoor space with roof and in a gymnastic hall. There are plenty of other spaces available and a big lawn perfect for outsidework. There is also a sauna.

Accomodation
Mattrasses will be made available in classrooms. Bring a sleeping bag.
Beautiful places for camping, bring your tent (no fee reduction).
It is possible to rent your own living in small cottages or appartments.

Food
Our cooks offer nice home-cooked vegetarian food, 3 meals a day.
Please, specify any dietary requests or vegan food when signing up.

Full Jam & Seminar, August 9-16 2004.
7 nights, 3 vegetarian meals a day: SEK 2.500
Your booking will be accepted by e-mailing the registration form and paying a deposit of 1000 SEK, or total amount before the 15th of July- 2004.

Traveling to Herräng
Travel by bus from Stockholm to Herräng takes two hours.
For the detailed planning of your trip from Stockholm to Herräng, please consult the SL webpage at: http://reseplanerare.sl.se/?lang=Eng.
Fill in "Tekniska Högskolan" as the departure station and "Herrängs skola" as the destination. Choose the day you want to travel and the time you want to depart or the lattest you want to arrive. You will get alternatives including 2 busses (639 and 642 with a change at Hallstaviks station) or 3 busses (640 with change at Norrtälje bus terminal to 641 and a second change at Hallstaviks station to 642). Note that Thursday the 20th of May is a bank holiday and fewer transportations are available as compared to the 19th.
One way trip between Stockholm and Herräng costs 5 tickets. If you are buying them at the bus driver it will cost you 75 SEK/trip. We would recommend you to buy a discount coupon for 10 or 20 tickets, at either one of the gate or Pressbyrån or SL-center. Those costs 80 and 145 kr respectively.
